DAVID RYALL as Rant in The Tractate Middoth (BBC2, Christmas Day at 9.30pm). When John Eldred goes in search of a special book at a university library, a young student who tries to help is drawn into a family feud over a will – with terrifying consequences. MR James’ spine-chilling story has been adapted by Mark Gatiss for this one-off drama,

JAMES FLEET as Mr Bennett in Death Comes To Pemberley (BBC1, Boxing Day at 8.15pm, Fri 27th Dec & Sat 28th Dec at 9pm). Following on from the original story of Pride Prejudice, Death Comes to Pemberley imagines what might happen to the original characters six years after the marriage of Mr Darcy and Miss Elizabeth Bennett. James Fleet stars alongside Matthew Rhys, Anna Maxwell Martin and Rebecca Front.  

MARCIA WARREN as Penelope in Vicious (ITV, Friday 27th Dec at 9pm). The sitcom returns to our screens for a Christmas special and our lovely Marcia Warren reprises her wonderfully funny role as the forgetful neighbour, Penelope.

TOM GOODMAN-HILL as Dr Maudsley in The Thirteenth Tale (BBC2, Mon 30th Dec at 9.30pm). Psychological mystery adapted by Christopher Hampton from Diane Setterfield’s bestselling novel.  A biographer is forced to confront her own past while interviewing a terminally ill writer who has a very interesting and spooky tale to tell.  Starring Olivia Coleman, Vanessa Redgrave and our very own Tom Goodman Hill

JONATHAN WATSON as Colin in Two Doors Down (BBC1, Tues 31st Dec at 9pm). A one-off TV adaptation of Radio 4’s sitcom about the Bohemian residents of a road in Belfast.  Starring our own Jonathan Watson, the sitcom centres around family, friends and neighbours descending on Beth and Eric and as a result ruining their Hogmanay celebrations.

HANNAH WADDINGHAM as Tonya Dyke in Benidorm (ITV, Thurs 2nd Jan at 9pm). The sixth series of ITV’s popular sitcom sees the arrival of a new family to the Spanish resort. Our fabulous Hannah Waddingham stars as mum, Tonya, and with her feisty attitude and brassy Watford ways, Tonya and her family are set to really stir things up.
