SHARLENE WHYTE AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS

 

SHARLENE WHYTE sat for the art installation Lady of the Lake that is now at the Royal Academy of Arts. This piece is part of Isaac Julien’s Lessons of the hour: Frederick Douglass series. Sharlene portrays Anna Murray Douglass, who was part of the underground railway and helped free the famous abolitionist and writer Frederick Douglas from slavery.
